Take Action to protect clean water

» Action Alert    |    July 12 2011
Please visit our online action center to urge Congress to reject HR 2018, a harmful bill which would cut large holes in the federal safety net that protects the nation's streams, rivers, bays and wetlands.
WHY WE CARE
As early as Wednesday of this week the House of Representatives will consider HR 2018, which would curtail EPA authority to enforce the Clean Water Act and would likely allow state-by-state approval of ongoing and future fish habitat destroying activities such as excessive nutrient pollution of our lakes, bays and coastlines, and even mining in the world class salmon producing Bristol Bay watershed in Alaska. For more information read the TU letter to House members (pdf), and the sportsmen conservation group letter to House members (pdf).
WHAT YOU CAN DO
Please visit our online action center today and write to your Representative and Senators to urge them to reject HR 2018 and to instead urge them to take a more careful look at the harmful consequences of the bill.
Also please consider calling your Representative, via the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121, and ask the switchboard operator to connect you to your Member’s office. Please tell the receptionist at your member's office that you oppose HR 2018 and urge him/her to vote against it.
